unflatten a pdf

Ive got a pdf file that was edited then flattened using Bluebeam. I cannot unflatten the file since I edited some text. Is there a method using Adobe Pro XI to unflatten the file?

thanks

Unflatten is a feature available in Bluebeam not in Adobe Acrobat Pro.

Bluebeam allows Markup Recovery (Unflatten) since you flatten the PDF with that option enabled in Bluebean. If that option was not enabled, flattening is irreversible.

Please, refer to Bluebeam help on the subject: http://www.bluebeam.com/us/support/help/revu10/Content/RevuHelp/Flatten%20Markups.htm

Allow Markup Recovery (Unflatten): Enables unflattening of the PDF if any markups need to be edited in the future. Flattening is irreversible if the PDF is flattened without this option checked.

"Flatten" can mean many things. With Acrobat flatten means converting objects like annotations or form fields from their object layer to the content layer and make them part of the content of the PDF. One can still use Acrobat to edit the items using the correct tool. Once "flattened" with Acrobat one can not restore the flatten objects back to their original object type.

Unlike Redaction, which leaves an original PDF and makes a redacted copy, "flatting" does not make a copy of the PDF. In the future you might want to make a backup copy before performing this action.

For others, "flatten" means making the PDF uneditable or harder to edit.
