You can download Adobe PDF iFilter (64 bits) from here: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5542
AdobeĀ® PDF iFilter is designed for end users or administrators who wish to index Adobe PDF documents using Microsoft indexing clients. This allows the user to easily search for text within Adobe PDF documents.
To know how to configure Adobe PDF iFilter, take a look at http://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/AdminGuide/Acrobat_Reader_IFilter_configuration.pdf
While this cannot be done with Adobe Reader it can be done with Acrobat (Standard or Pro). Simply use Acrobat to build a Catalog index for the PDF files of interest. This can be for a single PDF or grouped PDFs of a like topic / sub-topic.
Be well...
