how can i verify if a file is pdf/a conformance?

I have Acrobat XI pro

I want to check if a file is pdf/a compliant. The file is a regular pdf file. When it opens in Acrobat it does not show the indication that it is pdf/a because it was saved as a regular pdf file.
How can i verify that it conforms with the requirements for pfd/a?

You already have the right tool for that.

There is a built-in checker in Acrobat Pro, which would be ued. In fact, there are various preflight profiles for creating and checking PDF/A compliance.

In the Tools pane you open the Print Production panel and select Preflight. If the Print Production panel is not active, you will activate it using the tiny little button in the upper right corner of the Tools pane.

When the preflight profiles have loaded, there is a section PDF/A compliance. Open it, and you find a whole bunch of profiles for analyzing and converting. Select the apprporiate profile and analyze. The report will show whether your file is compliant or not. You also can convert the file to the according standard.

Hope this can help.
