I am running both MS Office 2010 and Adobe Acrobat 9.0. I've had no problems converting Word, Excel or Visio files to pdf. The only difference I've found is in Office 2010 the icon is missing from the tool bar. Previously I could click on the icon and create the pdf. In 2010 I have to print the document and select Adobe Acrobat as the printer. Slight inconnvenience but other than that I've had no issues.
I'm not sure what the cause of your error is though.

The first version of Acrobat to officially support Office 2010 was version X. Acrobat 10.0 supports the 32-bit version and Acrobat 10.1 or later supports the 64-bit version.

The workarounds for Acrobat 9/Office 2010 are as follows:

  • In Office 2010, select the Adobe PDF printer from the Print pane of the Office 2010 File tab.
  • In Acrobat 9, select File > Create PDF > From File to convert Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Visio documents,
  • Right-click a Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Visio document in Windows Explorer and choose Convert To Adobe PDF.
  • In Microsoft Project and Publisher, and for e-mails in Outlook 2010, open the files or e-mails. Print by selecting the Adobe PDF printer from the Print dialog box.

I had/have a similar issue to this.
Currently on a win 7 x64 Using office 2010 and Acrobat pro 9

In word for instance we have the adobe plugin/addins bar set up ready to use.
If we want to export a pdf or use any of the tools word crashes and forces a reboot of the program prompting to disable the addon.

I spoke to adobe regarding this and they simply said 'incompatibility' - which is fair enough. But it doesnt resolve my issue, i understand there is work arounds - I.e save as PDF.

But i want my buttons to work. Any hel;p would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
