Hi,
I am a user like you and any info more you provide, help me make focus on the problem and try to put forward a solution.
Anyway, I found these 2:

It is very likely that your issue with Acrobat is due to a memory overhead.
If you read both threads linked above, you will realize this by yourself.
Probably, you are either
- opening an heavy PDF;
- meeting a kind of "font" issue similar to the one outlined in one of the linked threads;
- having a full tasks list on your system;
So, follow any of the advice given in the threads.
In general, I would start from
- check if the PDF is too heavy;
- start your system in safe mode and check how Acrobat behaves;
- purge (Acrobat) cache contents;
- purge system temp files (see CCleaner);
uninstall and reinstall Acrobat hoping that this will fix a "font"-like issue;
...
If all of these don't work, there are more complex solutions that consist in running a system events log. I can provide some links on this if needed.
