Wrong character set when printing to PDF

When I print to Adobe PDF from the Internet, all the characters come out looking like garbage. Probably a different character set. Any idea why?

Let us know if this technical note helps to address your issue Missing or Garbled Text Printing from IE9 to Adobe PDF Printer. In short, here is what you can do:

Uncheck the option 'Rely on system fonts only; do not use document fonts' from the Adobe PDF Settings tab within the Adobe PDF printer preferences dialog box.

To access the Adobe PDF printer preferences dialog box, please perform the following steps:

  1. Open the Printers and Faxes (Windows XP), Printers (Windows Vista) or Devices and Printers (Windows 7) folder.
  2. Right-click the Adobe PDF printer and choose 'Printing Preferences'.
  3. On the Adobe PDF Settings tab, uncheck to option 'Rely on system fonts only; do not use document fonts.'
  4. Click OK to close the printer preferences dialog box.
