When exporting to PDF/X-3 from InDesign, why do my placed RGB images get converted to CMYK?

I understand that this should not normally happen, as PDF/X-3 supports colour-managed RGB images, as well as CMYK and greyscale images.

Hi,

First, you should check the Preset (JobOptions) used to convert to PDF, be sure that color conversion is : none (default PDF/X-3 setting).
Otherwise it may be an InDesign issue, so you should ask on the InDesign forum.

The default output of PDF/X-3 is CMYK - you'll need to change this in the settings when you export from InDesign.

InDesign default output for PDF/X-3 is "untouched" (not sure about the exact item in English).
Default CMYK output is for PDF/X-1.
