You can't. Your only option is to re-enter the data. PDF does not know anything about the file format that was used to generate the file. If you are using a Mac, and have TimeMachine enabled, you can get the files back by using TimeMachine.

I agree with the expert. When you overwrite the TurboTax data file (*.tax), you really do overwrite the file. A PDF does not contain the data necessary to recreate the data file. Wish I had a better answer.

I am reading on line that the pdf file first must be converted to csv and then to txf. But I can't find a converter to do this for Mac.Any suggestions?

Carol Hayes... You cannot convert a PDF to csv.

Although this topic is old, I thought I'd chime in.

TurboTax does have a feature where the PDF version of a return can be imported into their software. Unfortunately, it is designed to take a prior year's return from TaxCut or Tax Act (primarily) and import it to the current year's TurboTax file. (i.e. Import Last Year's Data) Sadly, it doesn't usually work (poor implementation on TurboTax's part).

Also, there are ways to get from PDF to csv, but in this case, it wouldn't be appropriate.
