Plotting from AutoCAD to PDF - plot styles

I am having trouble getting an autoCAD layout, using a specific plot style (pen table) to convert to PDF (working directly from Adobe Acrobat XI). The PDF continues to be generated using the screen colors and not the plot style colors I have assigned to the layout.

When I try converting through my AutoCAD 2007 program, I lose fidelity of the solid color fills and the text is not crisp.

My program used to have an PDF maker tab in the toolbar, but when I last had to reload it, I have somehow lost the ADOBE PDF tab.

In Acrobat

Edit | Preferences | Convert to PDF | Autodesk AutoCAD | Change Settings

In the Settings dialog there is also a button to load custom import profile files.
