New PC running Win7, tried to install Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard. It won't register and doesnt work right.

I have on new PC running Win7 Pro 64-bit and installed Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard. It wont to register correctly and it doesn't like to print or create PDF files from web pages. Is version 8 Standard not compatible? Any insight as to why it will not register? Could it be because Adobe does not want to support version 8 any longer? I am using Internet Explorer Version 11.0.9600.17501
I was very surprised that it is so difficult to find a phone number for Adobe so I could ask a simple question. Much worse than Microsoft!

Acrobat 8 is no longer compatible with any modern version of the operating systems supported by Acrobat (this is true for both Windows and the Mac). You will have to upgrade to either Acrobat X or XI (but both would require updates to the latest patch level).

You can google for "Adobe customer service" and get this phone number: 1 (800) 833-6687

However, chances are that customer support would also not help you - Acrobat 8 is no longer supported, and therefore they would not provide any information and refer you to the sales department to purchase a new license.

Unfortunately, you also can no longer get an upgrade discount (at this time only Acrobat 9 and X qualify for a discount when upgrading to XI).

Acrobat 8 is not compatible with Windows 7, or any later versions. Time for an upgrade.

Acrobat 8 is pretty old and no longer supported by Adobe.

Have you checked to see if Acrobat 8 is compatible with Windows 7?

Adobe product operating system compatibility

Since Windows 9 does not show compatibility with Windows 7 I doubt that an even earlier version of Acrobat would work with Windows 7.

Acrobat 9 Standard system requirements Windows •1.3GHz or faster processor •Microsoft Windows XP Home, Professional, or Tablet PC Edition with Service Pack 2 or 3 (32 bit and 64 bit); Windows Server 2003 (32 bit and 64 bit, with Service Pack 2 required for 64 bit); or Windows Vista Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, Ultimate, or Enterprise with or without Service Pack 1 (32 bit and 64 bit)

If one update Acrobat 9 to version 9.2 then Acrobat 9 is compatible with Windows 7.
