I am getting scrambled text when I create a composite pdf file?

I have created individual pdf pages and files. These files look fine. I start combining them by inserting each new page and all of a sudden the page in the compiled pdf workbook page shows missing text characters. If I continue each page gets worse and even the pages already inserted become scrambled? The original pdf pages created by the same Adobe XI standard program are all fine?

What is going on here? I need to create a report and the way this is happening I cannot make any progress. I have seen this issue once before on a different computer and an older Adobe acrobat program and a corrupt template - however I am using a "clean template" uncorrupted original files and everything has worked just fine up until now on multitudes of other reports.

Nothing obvious has happened to the computer and the computer has been scanned completely and appears to be uncompromised? I am operating with Windows 7 and as stated above Adobe Acrobat XI.

Am I missing anything?

Thanks

This symptom is caused by a problem with fonts: When you combine two files that use two different subsets of the same font, and there is a problem with how these two subsets were created, Acrobat has to assume that both subsets are identical, so it's not combining the two subsets, and you will be missing the characters that are either not in the first or not in the second document.

This should however not happen when the source files were created with Acrobat.

Would you be able to share two of these source files with me that show this problem when merged?
