I merged five PDF files using MAC Automator. After the merge one file is rotated and another is upside down.

I merged five PDF files using MAC Automator. After the merge one file is rotated and another is upside down. The files are all right side up and correct prior to merge. I can not figure out what is causing this to occur.

If you are using the "Combine PDF Pages" function in Automator, you are using Apple's PDF merging function. Unfortunately, Apple is not doing a good job when it comes to PDF (see for example how PDF forms get corrupted by Apple's Preview: http://khkonsulting.com/2013/06/preview-app-killer-of-pdf-files/).

You will have to complain to Apple about this behavior.

If you want to merge PDF files using Adobe Acrobat, you can use the File>Create>Combine Files... mechanism, which should keep the page rotation correct.

When you say you've used the Mac Automator, what automation script did you use to merge the files?

Thank you for your response.

I drug the five files in the order I wanted them merged
Combine PDF
Copy Finder Items
Remane Finder Items (Name single item)
Run

This has worked just fine in the past but for some reason the two files are rotating.
