How to remove "Signature field(s) detected" message (Acrobat XI Pro)

Hello experts,

I have Acrobat XI Pro 11.0.3 (Mac and Windows versions).

I OCR the PDF document, save it and then close it.

When I open the document I get a green banner across the top saying "Signature field(s) detected" which also has the option to "Open Sign Page". (For a graphic of this banner here: http://www.screencast.com/t/ySa9xlcS )

The behaviour of popping up this "Signature field(s) detected" message is new. It did not occur prior in either Acrobat Pro version 9 or X. I do not recall seeing this in version XI until the most recent update (11.0.3). It seems to be a result of the OCR process in Acrobat XI (v 11.0.3).

This is strange behaviour.

I do not want to "Sign" my documents nor did I do anything to request the document has to be signed.

The documents does have text for a signature, the typical horizontal line over the text of the signator (which might literally read something like "Signature of Authorized Person" or some such). But the existence of this text should not be a reasons for Acrobat's OCR to render the document in need of signing.

Clicking "Open Sign Page" button on the "Signature field(s) detected" banner takes us to the "I need to Sign" tool. There is no option to either remove the signature requirement and there's no indication in the document to indicate that there is some kind of field where a signature might have been injected and that can be removed.

My questions are:

- How can I completely remove the "Signature field(s) detected" message should it arise?

- How can I OCR a PDF document such that the resulting PDF does not display the "Signature field(s) detected"?

- Is there a setting I need to adjust?

- What are the best practices in this situation?

All tips/tricks/pointers welcomed.

It's a new "feature" of the latest version of Acrobat/Reader. Basically it looks for the word "sign" or "signature" in the file, and if it finds it, it shows that silly toolbar.

At the moment, the only way to disable it is with a registry tweak. See this post on my website for the workarounds: Acrobat/Reader - Disable Sign Pane and Signature Bar
