How come the same file increases ten fold during OCR process on different computers with same file & same settings

We are all pretty experienced Acrobat users however when we OCR a 89K document using Acrobat 9 Pro on 4 different computers we get different results. On two computers it increases the file size to 899K on the other computer it DECREASES the size to 57K? We are OCR'ing all the same doc using English, Searcable file, and 600 lowest setting. We have looked at the advanced options and they are the same. There must be a setting somewhere which we are not finding. We do this all day long and it would really help if we could solve this problem.

Two computers running Windows 7 & XP convert to the small size, however two other computers usuing simillar operating systems end up with the file size 10 times larger with the same settings. All are PCs....

Anyone that has a suggestion would be ghreatly appreciated. What are we missing????

The file size should vary with the Resolution and colour settings while scanning. Make sure you are scanning at 600 dpi and same colour (RGB or CMYK or Grayscale) from all 4 computers and using save Acrobat version on each.

All,

Once again same file two different pc's runing acrobat 9 pro PDF 21m, Same settings on both machines after OCR one machine file size reduced to 6m the other 224m. Sorry for any confusion in my earlier post on the size. Is ther some preference box that has settings we do not know about?

On another forum someone asked for the audit detail but they did not allow images so I am posting them here. I cannot interpret these figures but it seems like there is no answer that I can discern???

Thanks in advance

Something to look at —
On all boxes being used.
Go into Acrobat's Preferences.
Select the Convert to PDF category.
View the settings for TIFF.
Are these the same for all?
Check what is compression is selected for monochrome | grayscale | color compression.

David,

Thanks for the answer we looked at those settings and they were all the same. I think we are heading in the right direction but still not there yet.

Thanks again for responding.

Hi Robert,

Did you ever get any kind of solution to this problem? I've been having the exact same problem and it's very annoying. I've been only using one machine, and I'm having the files increase 400% in size. Usually it only goes up 10% in size (with no image downsizing), and this bug in Acro 9 (which I just started using) is a huge problem.

Thanks for any insight.
