How to do a complex search in Adobe Acrobat Portfolios?

Search function only provides exact phrase searching, not for multiple words (e.g., "lamb" and "kale"). Is there a workaround for this deficiency?

This isn't possible using the search command within the PDF Portfolio. However, if you step outside the Portfolio and close it and then select Edit > Advanced Search you can do all different types of searching -- from boolean to stemming.

Adding to what Lori said —

Put the Portfolios under a common parent directory/folder.
Use Acrobat to create a Catalog index of these.
Any PDFs in the Portfolios will have been indexed.

You can have the PDX created 'auto-mount' when a placeholder PDF is opened (Document Properties > Advanced tab). With this PDF opened you engage advanced search and query.

Or, open Acrobat/Reader. Open Search. Browse to and select the PDX. Begin query.
