How do I set up Acrobat XI Pro so PDF text in Spanish does not get the Spanish accents mangled when converting to

I am using Windows 7 and MS Word 2010 Version 14.0.7116.5000 (32 bit). My Acrobat XI Pro is Windows, English.

The PDF Spanish text after converting to Word converts a vowel with an accent or tilde as an f or other consonant. The Spanish word "género" gets converte to "genera". I am a new user and do not know if and how you need to set up some type of recognition table for Spanish language in Acrobat XI Pro so PDF accented vowels will show up correctly after they are converted to Word. Thanks for any help,
VAM

This has to do with the way the PDF file was generated. There's not much you can do about it in Acrobat.

Hi,

You should try to go to : Preferences : Languages and set your Acrobat to Spanish before exporting PDF to DOC.

If you are converting a PDF to Word and some parts (or all the document) need OCR, click on "Settings" button in the "Save As" dialog and set the appropriate language for the document:

Try setting the language for your document to Spanish under File > Properties > Advanced tab.
