Whenever I try to save changes to a form, I receive this message: "The document could not be saved. Use of non FIPS cryptography is not permitted while in FIPS mode."
What does this mean and is there anything I can do to get out of FIPS mode or use FIPS cryptography?

As a "home user" would have to deliberately place Acrobat into FIPS mode what you are experiencing makes it likely that you are using an Acrobat install placed by a government agency or a corporate IT Administrator.

On Windows, IT Administrators can install Acrobat such that it is permenantly in FIPS mode.
This assures users are kept FIPS compliant.
