Error: Does not support presets

After reinstalling Adobe on a different computer with a different scanner, I can no longer use "Create>PDF from scanner>Black&White Document". Custom Scan and Configure Presets are the only two options. The rest are gray (unavailable). IF I choose "configure presets", I get an error that says the scanner does not support the use of presets. If I choose custom scan, I must enter in all my scanning preferences and select "scan". It then pops up an additional box titled "Scan using (my scanner's name)". I, again, must select my options: Source(feeder), Type(grayscale), and size(8.5x11 is not an option). The image is not clear after being scanned. This may be an installation problem because the original disk was unavailable. I believe the lady from IT copied the Adobe files from my old computer to my new with a jump drive. Windows 7 to Windows 8.

Do you have the newest version of Acrobat? Is the "current" version of Acrobat compatible with Windows 8 (in other words, which version of Acrobat do you have)?

You might also check for the newest version of the scanner driver.

Just FWIW, copying installation directories from one machine to another running a different version of the operating system is not very smart.

Hope this can help.
