Does Acrobat Standard allow "mail merge" or do I need to purchase Acrobat Professsional to do that?

Hello, I'm trying to use Mail Merge to fill in an Adobe PDF form with information from an Excel spreadsheet.
I'm reading some stuff that says Adobe Acrobat Professional has such a tool. Does the Acrobat Standard have this capability? Is there a free download
for Auto Mail Merge? thanks

There is no mail merge built into Acrobat, you either need to implement a solution based on form fields yourself, or pay somebody to do that for you. To go directly from Excel to Acrobat, you would need to use a XFA form created in LiveCycle Designer, AcroForms can no longer access a database directly. Because Designer is no longer bundles with Acrobat Pro, and you can create AcroForms with both Standard and Pro, it does not matter which version you use.

It's usually better to do the merging of variable data and a static letter before you convert to PDF, because you get Ll the benefits of the merging application (e.g. full reflow of the document).

For more sophisticated merging in PDF, you may want to look into a true variable data solution like FusionPro.

As I wrote, there's a Mail Merge feature in the PDF Maker plugin for Office that comes with Acrobat, but I'm not sure if it's available in the Standard version and it's also not compatible with all versions of Office.

I have developed my own Mail Merge tool, which can be used in any version of Acrobat (Pro or Standard) and with any CSV or tab-delimited text file. You can see more information about it here: Acrobat -- Mail Merge and Email

The Mail Merge feature in the PDFMaker is only for MS Word Documents, not the case that was described in this question ("to use Mail Merge to fill in an Adobe PDF form with information from an Excel spreadsheet"). The feature is actually just a shortcut to use Word's internal mail merge feature (which I referred to as "before you convert to PDF") and allows to output directly to PDF.
