Conflicts .jpg files with acrobat

I recently downloaded the latest update of Acrobat Reader X, since then I have a problem that the .jpg files sent to me now have an Acrobat symbol and when I click to open instead of view it as a photo it tries to open as an Acrobat file and it tells me that Adobe Reader can't open IMG_xxxx.jpg because it is not a supported file type or because it has been damaged. However, I can open it as a photo if I click "preview", What is happening? Please let me know.

Hi.

It sounds like your systems file associations have been set to use Acrobat to open .jpg's. You need to reset them. You haven't mentioned your OS but in Win XP, highlight a .jpg, right-click and choose properties>Open with>Choose program. Choose your image editor/viewer then click the button that says "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file".
