Acrobat pro x freezes and crashes during scanning?

I mostly use Acrobat for scanning. I am using Acrobat Pro X (10.1.8) and it crashes almost every time I scan 1 or 2 pages in a document, regardless if the pages are the same size or not. I believe this is a problem only with version 10. I did not have this issue with version 9 Standard or earlier versions.

Is there an update coming out soon to address this?

Kevin, nobody here knows about what Adobe's plans are in regards to updates. We are all uses of Adobe technology, just like you (hence the title "Adobe Acrobat User Community" at the top of the page).

In my opinion, support for some scanners is the weakest feature in Acrobat. The way Acrobat uses the scanner driver (in "headless" mode) is causing trouble with some scanners. Because we don't know if Adobe will add a fix for your problem, you should try this from a different angle: See if you can get an updated scanner driver for your scanner. This may fix the problem.

Here is what I've done with scanners that are not supported or not supported well (and this is also what I recommend to my customers): It it not necessary to scan straight into Acrobat. If your scanner software allows to either scan to a PDF file (1st choice) or to TIFF images, then use that feature, and then import the document(s) into Acrobat. This is a bit more work if you end up with individual TIFF images because you have to assemble them in the right order using File>Create>Combine multiple files... into one PDF file. Once the scanned document is in Acrobat, you can use the same tools that Acrobat would have used for a direct scan by selecting Tools>Document Processing>Enhance Scanned Document.
