Acrobat Reader 11.0.03 "cannot find or create the font 'Arial'"

If you have Acrobat Pro - or are happy to download the trial - then check under Properties > Fonts to see if the font is properly embedded. Probably it is because the document you are trying to display was not created via the Aadobe Acrobat plug-in but through some 3rd party software plug-in which may not have properly embedded the fonts. Adobe recommend using the Print > Save as PDF dialogue to ensure it is their plug-in that fires.

(They could recommend this a lot more obviously than they do...)

Thank you for your reply. I understand what you are saying about not being created with an Adobe plug in but the issue only occurs on one specific tablet. I had the questionable pdf forwarded to another tablet user and they were able to open it without any errors being displayed. I would expect that if it was a problem with the pdf, the issue and errors would be repeated on another tablet and that is not the case. So, my assuption is that there is an issue with the program itself. That is why I started my search on the Reader with this error and eventually leading to me making this post. Again, thanks for your reply and hopefully this additional information will help with the further diagnosis/resolution of this issue.

I found that if a protected word file is coverted to PDF by using file save as pdf mode, these errors started to appear in my case. These errors disappeared when I used the "create PDF from file mode" instead of using save as function. Hope it is helpful.
