The acrobat addin for Word does not appear to work in Word 2013 (or any other Office 2013 program for that matter). Is there a method to allow acrobat to work with Word 2013?

Adobe will have to update the application as needed once MicroSoft releases the production version and not Beta test or preview versions.
What version of acrobat do you have. I'm not sure about v2013 but for v2010 you need at least acrobat x.
You should be able to "Save as PDF/XPS" and edit PDF files in Word 2013.Release date to consuming public is 1st quarter 2013 or between January 1, 2013 and March 31, 2013.
