i cannot uninstall adobe reader XI I keep getting an erro message " The patch package count no9t be opened. verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it,or contact application vendor to verify" I need to unistall XI and reinstall ver.9

This sounds like a corrupt file on your Windows system. See this article about potential solutions. I've used the tool it refers to a couple of times over the years, and it does work. To fully remove the app you have to use the cleanup tool, then install the Reader XI again and remove it via the uninstalled, only then can you install the older version of Reader. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932857
