Karl, thank you once again for that great info. I didn't know about that, and I was able to change my Google Chrome plugin to Adobe PDF (ENABLED) instead of the Chrome PDF. I did that, and then went back to try to open up file again. I started from scratch, and tried to open the ZiP/COMPRESSED file from the Penn Foster website.
STILL....I cannot open the file. It seems the only way to open is if I pay for WinZip to open it. I tried a trial version, and that did work. But when I opened it with WORD I get the message: "Sorry we can't open 22001185-028005 because we found a problem with its contents. DETAILS: Microsoft Word cannot open this file because some parts are missing or invalid." (files are not damaged, missing or invalid)
Open from Adobe Reader I just get the message that the file is damaged or unsupported. BUT, if I use WinZip free trial, IT WORKS GREAT! But, I don't want to have to pay for WinZip.
Could it be some settings in what programs are set to open what files? What program should I have set for this? I try to set it as Adobe Reader - but does't work. I tried to set WORD program to open - ERROR messages.
BEFORE I started changing the programs that open the file, I was able to open the file okay, but I could not get the instructor's comments. An instructor sent me the files in an email, and THOSE files I was able to open and see the comments. The instructor's email downloads opened up directly into Adobe Reader just fine.
But why can't I get the same results when I open the same files from the same website? There is still something else I'm not doing right. Please can you help me?
