Adobe Acrobat Pro for Mac doesn't recognize Canon MX860 scanner

I installed Adobe Acrobat Pro for Mac. It works except for scanning. I can't scan directly from Adobe because the program shows: SELECT A DEVICE. And then it shows no printers, even though I have my Canon printer/scanner MX860 installed. (WIRELESS)

I can scan from the Max Printer/Scanner function and then save in PDF and rework, but it takes extra steps to get it where I want it. I also don't have the option for custom scanning or preset scanning settings, because the scanner is not recognized. I want to be able to scan directly from Adobe, add pages, sort etcetera.
Suggestions are welcome!

I have created a PDF certficate (diploma) where I would like to import student names into. Can I create a txt file and import it into the pdf cerficate? Is this possible. I do not know java script or coding. Is there a simple way to do this. If so please give me step by step instructions. I am new to the acrobat world.

Do I do this through creating an action? I only want the names imported into a text field for name.

I have not created a form, just a pdf document. Help.

I am adding FDF data in editable PDF using pdftk without using option "flatten" however after merging FDF data in PDF when I open a PDF in brooser file is showing following error message and file get non-interactive.
"This document enabled extended features in Adobe Reader. The document has been changed since it was created and use of extended features is no longer available. Please contact the author for the original version of this document."

What must be the setting of PDF file so that user can save data in same file multiple times.

I have recently discovered the capability of PDF portfolios and this option would be very helpful to use in organizing our documenation for our projects. However, the size of them is too big to email...I also tried to ZIP the file and it was still to big. I need to distribute the portfolio to other team members via email when it is completed. Form distribution using a members only website

Hi there,

I run a members only website and have been asked to create a PDF form that people can download from the site. Complete and then submit using Adobe reader. Which would then collate the data into a response directory in Adobe. I can 't find any options where I can tell the form to submit to a specific email address. I know that if I create a distributed form I can send it out using my email client and responses will come back to me. But I want to be able to do the same thing but allow the user to download the form rather than me email it to them.

We have at least 1000 people that would use this form several times a year so I could potentially have 4000+ responses every year.

HELP!!!

Hello.
I'm new to Javascript with PDF Forms. Using Acrobat X Standard.

The Goal: If user checks (via checkbox) that they have children, require that they enter at least one name.
I took some code from a similar question and tried to make it work, but no success. Used this code in the Validate tab for the Child text field.

I get JS error:

Checking a checkbox extracts a page and adds that page to a separate PDF

I would like to, upon checking a particular checkbox, have that box's page extracted and added to a separate PDF.

Could I ask for the basic javascript code, to get me started?
(I don't see a method for doing this via the Mouse Up trigger / select a menu item.)

I was able to download and install LiveCycle Designer on a virtual machine running Windows XP on my Macintosh. It doesn't seem very intuitive - it's covered, a bit, in the Adobe Acrobat Pro X Classroom In A Book and there are a number of books, going back to '07 and '09, mainly, available on Amazon. As the software license says I have 703 days to go before my license expires, I'd like to give it a go. Are there any books that you would recommend?

Calculated Fields Not reseting with Forms Reset

I tried creating a reset button to clear a form with a lot of calculate fields. All the non calculate fields reset correctly but the calculated ones do not. Here is an example of one

Saved PDF does not appear in folder where it's saved.

I created a PDF form from a Word 2007 document, extended features in Acrobat Reader, certified the document with a visible signature and then saved it in My Documents. If I then open the My Documents folder, the file it not there!

If I use Windows Explorer and search for it, it shows the file as being in the folder where I saved it. If I open the containing folder... nope, can't see it. I need to attach the file to an outgoing email, but I don't use Outlook so i can't attach it to an email through Acrobat.

It does show up in My Documents later, say after 6 hours or so! Definitely an issue when time is of the essence.

Is this an Acrobat issue, or a Windows 7 issue? How do I fix it?

OK, this is a double post (which I castigate others for doing, but I think I put it in the wrong category AND it doesn't show up under my questions asked). I asked a similar question about Adobe Help, but this one is more important.

I installed the CS6 MC trial WITHOUT installing Acrobat Pro X (since I own it). I had trouble with Acrobat and tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times to no avail. I finally copied it from a back-up that I had on Time Machine before I had installed the CS6 trial and it worked.

HOWEVER, yesterday I needed to use Distiller - it doesn't even open. I tried the same trick with going back to an old back-up but it still will not open. I used Easy Find to find anything with the name "distiller" in it and most items (24 in all) were in my Library folder at the root level.

My question, then, is what files do I need to possibly restore to y Library folder in order to run Distiller? Does anyone have a list they could post so that I could check mine against a 'working' Distiller?

Now I'm counting on some of you Mac-heads out there to point me in the right direction!

Submit button manipulation in Acrobat X

How would I go about setting up a submit button so that when the respondent to a questionnaire submits the reply to the originator and a copy to him/herself?

I have seen http://acrobatusers.com/tutorials/dyn... but when I try to add the code it oens in Dremweaver where I can manipulate it but there is nowhere to put the code.

If I add the button in its native state, I can add the originator address but can't figure out how to add the respondents address from a form that is likely to go to different people a thousand times over. I guess what I am asking is there an easier way to get the form to add the email address from the email field into the URL box along with the originators address?

Each time I want to create a PDF from scanner I need to click on Create then click on Create PDF from Scanner then click on Black and White scan. How can I remove 3 mouse clicks and use a keyboard shortcut? or put a shortcut button on the toolbar for this.

I used Adobe Acrobat X Pro to create a fillable form for a client. The client does not have Acrobat X but needs to be able to fill out the form. I tried one of my older computers, and I also could not fill out the form. We get the following error message: You cannot save a completed copy of this form on your computer.

How can I resave the file (what format) so my client (and his tenants) can fill out this form and save it?

In older versions I could put a header or footer in a pdf file showing the page number or the date. In version 10.1.2 I don't see that function. I only see where I can add page numbers.

I have been looking for javascript that will disable a digital signature field on document open until the user enters data into 3 other fields. I would also like a pop up to explain why the field is disabled if the user clicks on it before filling in the other fields. I know how to do that, but I am getting stuck on it working because the signature field should be disabled and therefore won't run any script.

I'm having issue resolving and completing the simple task of showing already hidden submit buttons (which correspond to different email groups) in response to a drop-down item.

I've come across many threads of Gilad D in reference to this same exact issue, noted here:

Anyways, I have my "link" setup between drop down name, and the name of the corresponding button. Here is the validation code on the drop-down menu:

The main issue is that the button doesn't reveal is real-time. So if a user selects Dermstore, it will not load the button unless the user selects "Edit" from the menu, then "Preview". I've had one of our in-house coders tell me to google event listeners, but I figured before I got too wrapped up in this project I'd come to the source.

Any advice on resolving this would be great!

I am using a form that has two blank boxes. Picking one of the boxes will give a "check mark" and the other a "X". When either one of the boxes are checked the other one reverts back to a blank box. My problem is I cannot get both boxes to clear at the same time. Prior to picking either box both are blank. Once one is picked I cannot get them both blank again at the same time.

How do you remove entries.

Hi,

I've written the following script which solves a problem we were having:

if (app.viewerType == "ProgramX") { app.launchURL({cURL: 'file://assets/assets.pdf'}); }
else { app.launchURL({cURL: 'assets/assets.pdf'}); }

It basically checks the viewerType, if it's ProgramX, it opens the linked file via an absolute link, if not, it opens the file via a relative link.

In my main file I often link out to a fair few 'asset' files. If I could get the script to run from a document level, this would effectively halve the amount of javascript that needs to be written to open each asset file.

In a nutshell, I think the script would read something like this:
If app.viewerType equals "ProgramX" set variable "linktype" to: 'file://'.
If app.viewerType does not equal "ProgramX" set variable "linktype" to: ' '.

Then on button to each file, we have a javascript on press which is something like:
app.launchURL(.linktype{} + {cURL: 'assets/assets.pdf'})

Any help or code would be appreciated. I don't have much experience in writing document level js.

A Tagged PDF document shall contain a mark information dictionary (see Table 321) with a value of "true" for the "Marked" entry.

"Markings" entry is in the document catalogue (see .7.2, "Document Catalog"). The entry shall specify a "mark information dictionary".
In the mark information dictionary...
Key: Marked is of Type: boolean.
Value: (Optional) A flag indicating whether the document conforms to Tagged PDF conventions (see 14.8, "Tagged PDF). Default value: false.

I can't open a PDF link from Firefox 12, but I can with Safari or from my desktop. It was working until we updated adobe recently.
