Did you check to see if your new computer's OS could be used with Acrobat 8?
Windows Vista/7/8 requires at least version 9 and if you use MS Office 2010 you need Acrobat X or better.
Since Acrobat 8 is no longer under support by Adobe and not eligible for the upgrade pricing, you will need to buy a full version of Acrobat XI.
