Make sure that you have the TWAIN driver for your scanner. Acrobat needs a TWAIN driver in order to "talk" to your scanner.

Dear Mr Kremer, thanks for your prompt reply. My apologies for not mentioning that my computer is Mac Book Pro Mac OS X 10.8.3. On going throgh product details for my printer, it mentioned " Scanning Specifications" that "Twain-compliant software interface (Windows only)". Hence I suppose Mac OS software is TWAIN compliant. Please find the link as below:

I have also tried reinstalling most uptodate driver for my printer, but no help.

Any further suggestions please.

Unfortunately there is another interpretation of the information on the web site: The TWAIN driver is only available for Windows. Not every scanner manufacturer delivers TWAIN drivers for the Mac. So it looks like you are out of luck as far as scanning directly into Acrobat goes.

You can however use the Image Capture application on the Mac and scan your documents (just make sure that you scan to PDF). You would then in a second step open the scanned document in Acrobat and use the features to optimize scanned documents (Tools>Document Processing>Optimize Scanned PDF).

Oh, thats a shame. Major part of my personal use involves scanning. If that is the case then no point spending £500 on the software.
Thanks for your time. Much appreciated.

You can always invest in a different scanner. I've always had great success with (some) Fujitsu scanners and pretty much every Epson scanner I've every seen on the Mac.

I bought HP printer scanner as at that time Apple stores sold them along with Macs and assured good intergration between the two. They also provided iTunes download and updates of HP software.
I will consider buying the products you have suggested in future.
Thanks again
