I can't update Adobe Reader - error 1321?

System - Windows Vista. Browser - Firefox 13.0.1. Download/install proceeds normally until about 83% complete when it displays
Install error 1321 - "... installer has insufficient privileges to modify c:Program files\Adobe Reader 10\Reader\rt3d.dll

Any suggestions?

Hi,

Accordiing to this Adobe article on issues with Reader X, the 1321 error has to do with something running in the background while you are trying to install-

Hope this helps,

Disable your antivirus protection and run the update.

I disabled Antivirus and quit all programs before I tried to install the update each time. The Task Manager shows some "processes" and "services" running obviously, but I don't feel comfortable stopping any more of them than I already have during the install. I was hoping someone had identified a conflict with a particular service or had improved the install. I still get error 1321, a year later.
