How does one save a Reader filled in form as a static pdf file?

I have to make a form that my staff can fill in using Reader and then be able to save that completed form and email it to our clients as a static pdf than can't be altered.

What are the steps for doing this from the prepared form in Acrobat XI Standard?

You can flatten the file.

This widget by one of the forum's regulars does a pretty good job at that:

The flattener only works with Adobe Acrobat. My staff needs to be able to open the Reader version of the form. Then fill in the specifics on the client in the form foelds. Save the client specific pdf and email that to the client. And we don't want the client to be able to make changes to the finished form. From what I see with this flattener, it can only be used with the Acrobat.

Would making the fields read-only be sufficient? Without additional help, this is the only way using Reader.

If it has to be a "plain" PDF, and all your users have is Reader, you would need server support to create such a document. The tool of choice for accomplishing something like that would be FDFMerge by Appligent. Here you submit the data to the server, which then fills out a blank form and flattens the document, and then you can make the resulting document available.

Hope this can help.
