How do I get my computer to recognize Acrobat X as a new "printer?"

Got a new Mac with Lion OS. I migrated software and files from my old Mac. Along with that migration came Acrobat 7 professional and Acrobat 9 Professional. I purchased Acrobat X and installed it. When opening Acrobat X, it come up fine. BUT when using other software and trying to "print to a pdf" it reverts back to only seeing Acrobat 7 as the "printer."

How do I get my computer to recognize Acrobat X as the new printer?

The Adobe PDF Printer is not available or is unusable in Mac OS X lion. It is the same situation starting from Snow Leopard (v10.6). Acrobat adds a new Save As Adobe PDF command. In the PDF menu, choose Save As Adobe PDF, and follow the onscreen instructions.

With Lion, I believe you lose the PDF printer so you'd have to use the Apple PDF printer.

Print Menu > then choose PDF > then from PDF menu select Adobe PDF or Adobe Quality PDF

The pdf printer is still there in Lion under System Preferences - Print & Scan. It's just that Acrobat 7 is showing up as the only option for the pdf printer. I will try your other suggestion to see if it makes any difference. Hopefully I will get back all the options back on how I want the pdf made. Thanks for your help

Hi,

this page is about Snow Leopard and Acrobat 9, but the issue remain the same with Lion and Acrobat X: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/509/cpsid_50...
