Are you only running one version of Acrobat on this computer? I've seen problems with PDFMaker if two or more versions of Acrobat are installed on the same computer. This is not a supported configuration, so you should not have more than one version installed at any time.
If repairing your installation does not work, you may have to uninstall and re-install. To make sure that you removed everything that can interfere with Acrobat, you may even consider running Adobe's Cleaner application after you uninstall: http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
