Adding other fonts to Acrobat.

Thanks for your answer, it's good to know it's possible - although I'm not sure what the process of 'adding it thru the operating system' involves? It is on my computer (I was able to download it) but it has only made itself available to Word.
The reason I want to add it is because the person who originally constructed the invoice which I'm modifying, used that particular font and if I delete any characters it won't replace them.
Thanks again Karl.

Please keep your comments in the original question (which you can find here: http://answers.acrobatusers.com/adding-fonts-q90732.aspx). This makes it much easier to follow the discussion because it keeps all information in one place.

You've added the font the correct way: If it's available in Word, it's available to the rest of the system. It is possible that the font has a problem that does not make it available in Acrobat. Where did you get the font? Is it a commercial font? If so, you may want to get in touch with the font vendor and complain about your experience, and ask them if they can provide more information about how to install the font so that you can use it in Acrobat.

I'm going answer from the perspective of using a Mac. The method will be different on PC though the File affected should roughly be the same.

If on a Mac download the Utility called Font Nuke or use any Utility you can Remove Font Cache files.

  1. Quit all Running applications
  2. Run Font Nuke or the Utility
  3. once all Font Cache are Removed restart the Computer.
  4. Reopen Acrobat and wait for it to create a new Font Cache.
  5. Now open you PDF and see if the Font is listed.

and easy way to see is:

  1. Click on Tool menu
  2. Click on Edit Text and Images
  3. Highlight a Word in a Line
  4. immediately below you see the name of the font used
  5. click on that button
  6. scroll through list shown
  7. If you new font appears it can be used.

I'm not sure if PC's allow for the removal and rebuilding the Font caches but because it often used the Most it more like to corrupt or not add new fonts. I make a Practice Of doing this at least once a month to clear up Stange Problems.
